Youth

We are committed to passing our Jewish tradition “l’dor va dor,” from generation to generation.  The Temple offers many opportunities for our young people to develop their Jewish knowledge and Jewish identity through education.

Our children’s formal education in Judaism takes place through the Lincoln Jewish Community School.  Children begin LJCS in preschool and continue on until high school, with many of our older teens choosing to become classroom assistants for the next generation of LJCS students.

Jewish education for our young people takes place outside of the classroom as well.  Many of our children attend Jewish camps.  Both the Temple and the Jewish Federation of Lincoln offer scholarships to help support Jewish camping.  Our teens also participate in the Lincoln Temple Youth Group (LTYG), which is affiliated with the North American Federation of Temple Youth (NFTY).  LTYG gives our teens the opportunity to travel to NFTY events where they can socialize and learn with their Jewish peers from other parts of the country.
