For our elementary-aged children, the LJCS coordinates Camp Israel, a two-week long Jewish day camp led by two Israeli counselors who are brought to our community by the organization Soul Train. Soul Train reaches out to smaller and more Jewishly-isolated U.S. communities in order to foster a strong connection to Israel and to worldwide Judaism.
The Israeli camp leaders, along with our teenage assistant counselors, organize crafts, outdoor play, age-appropriate prayer, singing, and Jewish learning. It is a great way for the kids to stay connected to their LJCS friends during the summer, and we hope that it gets them excited about attending Jewish sleep-away camp in a few years!
